Overjet

The horizontal displacement between the labial surface of the tips of the upper incisors and the labial surface of the lower incisors.

Overbite

The extension of the maxillary teeth over the mandibular teeth in a vertical direction when the opposing teeth are in the intercuspal position.

Displacement Measurement

The difference in contact point between two adjacent teeth in bucco-lingual direction.

Crossbite

A transverse discrepancy in tooth relationships. In a buccal crossbite the lower arch is wider than the upper arch so that the buccal cusps of mandibular teeth occlude laterally to the buccal cusps of the maxillary teeth.

Failure of some opposing teeth to occlude when others are in maximal intercuspation.
