Dental Health Component

The Dental Health Component (DHC) aims to summarise the evidence for the various problems caused by malocclusion.  It is loosely based on the Index of the Swedish Medical Health Board (Linder Aronson, 1974).

The DHC reduces the guesswork and measures and records the actual features of the malocclusion.

There are five grades ranging from 1 (no need for treatment) to 5 (great need for treatment).  You can look at these categories by clicking on the left hand side of this screen.

MOST IMPORTANTLY - ONLY THE WORST FEATURE OF THE MALOCCLUSION IS RECORDED. To do this a hierarchical scale was developed. Click on MOCDO for more information.

Click on 'study models' tab on the left-hand side menu for IOTN grading with study models alone (no clinical information available).
